An entire family of Fallow Deer launches us into a new area of our business.
Having years of experience with reindeer, when the opportunity came to own a pair of beautiful Fallow Deer, Roger could not resist the challenge.
Starting the new year by regeristing as an official deer farm but with NO intention of slaughtering the deer, but instead training them to become filmstars and work in the television and film industry.
Coming from a deer farm where they are bred especially for the meat industry a pair of fallow deer were borrowed for a tv commercial. After filming, the boss of Academic Animals, Roger Farr could not allow them to return knowing their destination was the slaughterhouse and so he arranged to take them home and placed them among the menagerie of other animals owned by his specialised animal company.
Now an entire family Mum, Dad and two baby Bambi live just an arms length away from a small herd of reindeer. Seperated by just one line of fencing they seem to get on quite well. Time will tell. Another Bambi is expected to be born in 2010.
